Banshu Leather: 1000 Years of History

History
 
Banshu Leather has a history of more than 1000 years. The oldest recorded history of leather production in Banshu is in the book from the year 927. Since then, leather industry has evolved.
During the Civil War (Sengoku Jidai), Himeji leather was used for arms and harness. In the Edo period (Edo Jidai), leather production became a key industry to support Himeji government.
